Hi, I'm Mei, a curious and passionate scientist with a strong foundation in biology and a growing expertise in Artificial Intelligence. I hold a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and have had the privilege of working on numerous impactful projects aimed at addressing critical challenges in neurological diseases.

I’ve always been passionate and curious about discovering innovative ways to apply advanced technologies to address complex problems. Recently, I had the opportunity to work at a company that merges cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence techniques with life sciences to accelerate drug discovery and create more effective treatments for diseases. This experience opened my eyes to the immense potential AI has to revolutionize drug discovery and healthcare solutions, which sparking my interest in delving deeper into the field of AI.

  • Developed overexpression cell lines for efficient differentiation into desired cell types, enabling high-throughput screening and disease modeling.

Project: ALS in collaboration with BMS (Early Stage)

  • Spearheaded the protocol screening for disease modeling
  • Led the development and optimization of imaging assay protocols and data analysis pipelines.
  • Conducted small-scale chemical screening to establish baseline disease phenotypes as proof of concept.

Project: Live Cell Imaging w/ ML Team

  • Collaborated with the machine learning engineers to explore new modalities for disease modeling.
  • Led the development and optimization of cellular differentiation and imaging protocols for live-cell imaging in neuroscience research.
  • Conducted small-scale chemical screening to validate live-cell imaging techniques for assessing cellular responses.
  • Explored simultaneous use of live-cell imaging and methods such as MEA (Multi-Electrode Array) to expand experimental capabilities for real-time disease modeling.

Project: Genome Surgery

  • Investigated Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) by using transgenic cell lines to model the disease.
  • Developing multiple transgenic neuronal cell lines from both healthy individuals and patients with specific mutations via CRISPR-Cas9 and electroporation.
  • Optimized protocols for neuronal differentiation and imaging to evaluate differentiation success and disease phenotypes.
  • Led the development and optimization of a 3D spherical culture system to better model neuronal disease in vitro.
